Meet Colin Harrison Meet I&R Intern,Colin Harrison!

Colin started with I&R in September of 2023 and has been such a pleasure to teach. He has a natural affinity for psychotherapy and has fallen right in line with the mission of the company’s practice. Colin immediately began delving deeply into different modalities, conducting extensive research and challenging himself to extend beyond what was familiar to him. Colin has soared and we are so amazed at his growth and his natural understanding of human behavior and change. Colin is drawn to exploring what’s underneath the surface. He is exceptional in so many ways! So, what is he up to lately?

Colin’s Latest Research

Interns are required to meet with their clinical supervisors on a weekly basis and it is always a pleasure to meet with Colin. Colin and his supervisor discuss interventions, modalities, client’s responses to treatment, client’s progress, and other clinical matters.

Over the past 2 weeks of supervision, Colin has been talking about a new modality that he has begun to use in his sessions. Colin has reported that he is using principles of Internal Family Systems in his sessions. After a Supervision meeting last week, Colin was asked to lead a staffing for his team! On August 12, 2024, Colin will be facilitating a training on Internal Family Systems. He did not hesitate to give his supervisor a date and put the event on his calendar! Even with graduation coming up for him in September, he was eager to jump on board and book the training!

Using Internal Family Systems in his Psychotherapy Sessions

Colin stated “I have done a lot of research on several modalities and I pull from many of them but IFS resonates with me the most.” When asked about how he is using IFS interventions in his sessions, Colin stated “I work with the different parts of an individual. Using IFS allows us to get to know ourselves better – one part at a time. I ask my clients to identify their thoughts, feelings, or physical sensations as they go inside. Often, they identify some feeling in their body and we bring our focus to that part. We explore this part to learn what it is doing for their system. Many parts reveal their role as a protector – working to keep us safe. As we continue to work, we also find inner child parts that often feel small and defenseless. We work to understand this inner child, help this part release its burden, and find healing”. Colin reported that he is using IFS interventions with many of his clients.

Proud Moments

We only hire the absolute best and Colin is among the best. We are so proud to have him working with our clients and helping them through the toughest times of their lives. This is a proud moment for I&R and we are so excited that after his internship, he will be staying on! Thank you, Colin, for all of your contributions!

Tameka Grant, therapist, couples, families, adults, children, anxiety, depression

Highlighting Tameka Grant

Tameka started with I&R in September of 2020! From the very start, she was exceptional! Tameka has a natural way with people and her clients LOVE her methodology! Her clients have said “she is such a great therapist and I have learned so much from her. My sessions have really caused me to do some soul searching.” Tameka is skilled in assessing client needs and developing effective plans of treatment. She is compassionate, analytical, logical, and intuitive

Tameka’s Devotion

Tameka came in right at the heart of the COVID pandemic. Doors were shut on most businesses, seeing people in person was a rarity, curfews were intact, illness was spreading and her Chief of Operations was on life support. The pandemic was like nothing we had ever seen before. Tameka had only been with the company for 2 months before things were in an uproar. As an intern, this had to be a riveting experience but Tameka never faltered. She kept a positive attitude in the midst of all of the changes that took place as the company had to adapt to the new culture of delivering therapy. Clients struggled with meeting virtually for the first time, she had to learn a new platform and a new way of delivering services altogether but she took it all in stride. Tameka was adaptable and optimistic throughout the entire pandemic. Standards kept changing, guidelines were changing frequently but Tameka never seemed to bat an eye. She was supportive and kept her commitment to her clients and the company. Four years later, she is still just as devoted and committed to her role as a therapist. This year, Tameka will be honored as she celebrates 4 years with I&R. We are incredibly blessed to have her on our team!!!

Exceptional Documentation and Therapeutic Skills

This month, Tameka’s supervisor reviewed some of her documentation and was blown away by her clinical documentation skills! It was very clear that she put forth her very best when she prepared the documents.  Tameka’s understanding of her client’s needs is paramount and it sets the tone for her treatment planning.  She develops plans of treatment that are unique to her clients.  Tameka prepares herself for her sessions and is always her absolute best! There is something dynamic that is happening behind Tameka’s closed door as her clients are often seen standing in the doorway well after their sessions are over.  It seems as though they are yearning for more.

What’s New with Tameka

Tameka has been asked by CEO of Introspection & Reflection to spearhead a project for the company.  Tameka has such a caring spirit and there was no better person to complete this task. Tameka will be organizing a donation to Tharros Place for the month of August.  Tharros Place is new to Savannah and is a residential facility for survivors of human trafficking.  Tharros Place provides a safe shelter for girls ages 12-17.  When Tameka was presented with the project, she got into planning mode and we are so thankful for her giving spirit!  We are excited to see all that she will do with this project and thankful that she is taking the lead!
